Demetria launched her first blog, ABelleinBrooklyn.com, in 2007 as “the hilarious misadventures of a single Southern woman living too far above the Mason Dixon.” Her popular site garnered the attention of editors at Essence magazine where she became the Relationships Editor for four years. Her first book, A Belle in Brooklyn: The Go-to Guide for Advice on Living Your Best Single Life was published in 2011. Her follow up advice book, “Don’t Waste Your Pretty: The Go-to Guide for Making Smarter Decisions in Life & Love” debuted in 2014.
In her (rare) downtime, Demetria masterminds ways to never be bored, which include obsessively researching her next adventure. She also obsessively watches Power and Being Mary Jane, which she recaps HERE.
She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband, and is working on her third book, “Life Is Not a Dress Rehearsal”, a series of essays on womanhood.
